About Us

The beginnings of John Fish Jewelers go back to Vegas Village North (now closed) where on October 14, 1955, it opened on the concourse at the west end between the shoe store and the check stands. The first day's receipts were $15.10. Its beginning personnel were John R. Fish, Elaine S. Fish, and Scott Hendricks, watchmaker. At that time Mr. Fish was teaching at the newly opened Rancho High School.

On December 31, 1958, the location was changed to 1618 Las Vegas Blvd. North. This was only a temporary stop, however, until the completion of the new Francisco Square Shopping Center at the corner of Las Vegas Blvd. South and Sahara Ave. The opening date there was June 5, 1959.

Business at this location continued for 17˝ years. In 1964 John R. Fish became a Certified Gemologist with the American Gem Society. Being across from the Sahara and El Rancho Hotels enabled the store to do business with many of Las Vegas' top performers, including:

Elvis Presley
Jerry Lewis
Claudine Longet
Andy Williams
Donald O'Conner
Billy Eckstein
Jayne Mansfield
Roberta Lynn
Liberace
Aleco and Vera
René Lineaud
Earl Grant
Sweet Louie of the Checkmates
Fats Domino
...and many others.

On November 1, 1976, the store moved to its present location in Commercial Center. Today we utilize one graduate gemologist, three jewelers, one watchmaker, one office person, and three sales people.

Las Vegas continues to grow at a phenomenal rate. As a family business, John Fish Jewelers looks forward with optimism. We have all the ingredients necessary to assure its continued development and growth.
